The new mid-engine Corvette has been named the 2020 North American Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show, one of the biggest auto events of the year. Every January, car brands show off their biggest new products at the show, while journalists also recognize the most deserving cars. The North American Car of the Year award is the most prestigious of these, so it’s a huge honor that the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette was the recipient.
It’s the third time the Corvette has been named the North American Car of the Year. It was previously honored in 1998 for the fifth-generation model and in 2014 for the seventh-generation model.
“The 2020 Corvette represents a new era for the iconic brand,” said Lauren Fix, North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year president. “The excitement from consumers has been overwhelming. From a journalist’s perspective, this is one of the best-built GM products that exemplifies what it means to be the North American Car of the Year.”
To choose the North American Car of the Year, about 50 professional automotive journalists come together to judge and evaluate the competition for technology, performance, innovation, design, safety, value, and overall driver satisfaction. They each cast their vote individually to choose the finalists and winners.
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette breaks away from the competition with its innovative mid-engine design and thrilling performance. It’s one of the most exciting new Corvettes in decades. Learn more about it at Blaise Alexander Chevrolet!
